A soliloquy: a solitary line of inner thought or observation
searching to understand or be understood.
Is that inner soliloquy perceptively different when it is analog and
direct [pencil on paper] or digital and indirect [stylus on tablet where touch is intercepted,
mediated or limited by the predetermined algorithms of strangers]?
This exhibit explored the possibilities of both soliloquys with life
drawings captured under pressure of live models and poses limited to line and held no more than 5, 10, 15 minutes.
Untimed line drawings, analog and direct, were included for context, comparison and discussion by the viewer.
The inherent imperfections in drawing lines from life, literally or metaphorically,
are the wabi-sabi of existence. |
